I’ve only ever had one good swimsuit shopping experience in my life, and it was only because the stars aligned and:
- I was in France, where the ladies on the beach were all in bikinis, regardless of their size, the size of their stomach, their age, or any other factors.
- I was the skinniest I’d been in a while, thanks to walking about 40 blocks/day in New York and never having time to eat because I was a full-time masters student with a part-time internship all the way down in SOHO.
- The lady began by asking my bra size, and then proceeded to pull out a box of tops that would actually fit me.
So, do you need to drop a few pounds and go to France to find a swimsuit you like?
Absolutely not. If you’re like me and you struggle to find swimwear that (1) fits and (2) feels awesome to wear, you need to try some vintage-style suits. They will change your life!
In preparing for my most recent trip to Phoenix, I was packing some of my favorite swimsuits and I realized that vintage style swimwear is the perfect choice for spring and summer. These suits are pretty much universally flattering.
Plus, skimpy swimwear (or any other clothing) has never really been my jam. When even your mother calls you a prude, you might have to face the facts… Well, I’ve found that vintage style swimwear is the perfect option for staying a bit more covered up, while feeling sexy at the same time. After all, what’s sexier than a little mystery?
Plus, these options are both super flattering.
