There are some things I can travel without. When you pack as fast as I sometimes do and you’re a bit unorganized, you miss some things. But one thing I hate to leave behind is my Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones. I always make space for them in my bag and have to have them with me when I get on the plane.
Basically, suitcase hits overhead compartment, butt hits seat, and headphones go on. I put them on right away and get to playing music or podcasts.
I noticed a few years ago, when I got a free upgrade to first class (thanks, Delta!), that pretty much everyone seated up there was wearing the same headphones. I looked around from seat to seat, wondering if this was some kind of conspiracy or weird product placement thing I didn’t know about.
It turns out that the people in first class are usually the people that fly more than anyone (hence why they get the upgrades) and therefore these people know the secrets of travel. I went out and started shopping for some of those Bose headphones I saw on everybody’s heads.
Ever since then, I’ve loved my pair. I wear them on pretty much every flight while I listen to music or podcasts. Before I started traveling and flying a lot, I had some flight anxiety, and found that listening to music really helped me calm down. Bumping up the sound on my earbuds to get it to surpass the airplane background noise was probably terrible for my ears, though.
Now I always wear the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones. You know that hum in the background on planes? They cut right past it and it’s just you and your music. They’re really comfortable and I routinely fall asleep with them on since I can’t stay awake on planes. And, if you’re flying with the little TV screens, they have little adaptors to fit the different plugs (2-prongs and 1-prong).
I wear them at home, too, especially when I need to focus and get some writing done.
This isn’t a sponsored post, I just love these headphones. I’m thinking of making a series of these posts about my travel essentials, so let me know in the comments if that’s something you’d like to see! And be sure to comment what your travel essentials are too! Maybe I’ll feature them in an upcoming post.
